Sean Ryan is associate editor of Real Estate New Jersey

According to Romano, the new company will focus on real estate acquisitions, development and consulting in the New York and New Jersey metro area market. An initial acquisition is "in the discussion stage," but he declines to identify the property pending completion of the deal.

"Advance provided Jason and me with a tremendous platform and terrific experience," Romano says. "However, we decided that it was best for us to be independent in order to do the kind of investments and development projects that we wanted. While we plan to be involved in investment acquisitions, we are positioned because of our experience to take advantage of the growing demand for urban redevelopment and revitalization."

Bogart adds that they've received encouraging response to their business plan from the financial community. "It is matching up nicely with a growing pipeline of opportunities."

At Advance, Romano was head of that company's ARG Development Group. He was a force behind Harrison MetroCentre in Harrison, NJ, among other urban redevelopment projects. Bogart was a vice president in the development group, responsible for underwriting finances for development projects and planning future investments.
