LONG BEACH, CA-More than 175 industrial leaders are expected in town for the first RealShare Industrial West Conference being held Sept. 13 and 14 at the Marriott Long Beach Hotel. Already confirmed are industrial leaders from California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Illinois and New York."We expect to see the top players in industrial real estate at the event," says Richard Kelley, director of the RealShare Conference series for Real Estate Media, parent company of Real Estate Forum and GlobeSt.com. Kelley tells Globest.com that attendance is surging due in part to keynote speaker Dr. John Husing of Economics & Politics Inc. After president and CEO of Real Estate Media, Jonathan A. Schein, delivers the opening remarks, Husing is set to discuss how the Southern California economy and demographics impact industrial real estate, supply chains and logistics.According to Kelley, another top draw is RealShare's popular segment, Inside the Real Estate Mind. For this conference, Real Estate Media's group managing director, Michael G. Desiato, will host a candid one-on-one interview with Jim Curtis, co-founder and principal with San Francisco-based Bristol Group Inc. Curtis' firm owns13.5 million sf of commercial space and is particularly interested these days in the Los Angeles area's growth potential as a global port.Curtis' assertion is not a stretch. Already among the world's most active ports, reports surfaced after the recent devastation of fellow port city New Orleans that Los Angeles would be among the areas shouldering the supply chain burden. Early estimates predict the Port of Los Angeles' traffic could triple. The challenges to bearing the brunt of additional traffic will be among the issues addressed during a panel titled "The Evolution of Logistics & the Supply Chain." Jim Reeb, senior managing director with Cushman & Wakefield, will moderate the panel.Other topics at the event include "Industrial Condos: How Small Businesses Are Impacting the Market," hosted by Alan Airth, managing principal, the Koll Co., and "The Corporate Perspective: What They Want From Industrial Real Estate," moderated by Sam Foster, SVP-tenant representation group, Jones Lang LaSalle.Kelley tells Globest.com the conference will conclude with a boat tour of the Port of Los Angeles. While chugging along through the water, attendees will listen to the panel discussion "Planes and Trains, Ports and Trucks: How Do We Get from Here to There?" moderated by Stacey Jones, director of engineering development, Port of L.A.
