The 450,000-sf anchor, set to be completed within two years, will feature a 900-seat chapel, family life center, sanctuary, coffee shop and book store. Another nine-acre tract has been dedicated for commercial uses. The Kingdom Builders' Center design team consists of locally based Morris Architects, Tellepsen Builders, ESPA Corp., ESPA Architecture Inc., Walter P. Moore Houston, Charles D. Gooden Consulting Engineers Inc. and CHPA Texas.

Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church says the 450,000-sf project, located at the corner of South Post Oak Road and West Orem Drive, is the centerpiece for a "234-acre, mini-master plan community," consisting of the 462-lot Corinthian Point subdivision, elementary school and nine acres of commercial space. To date, the retail component contains a CVS/Pharmacy and Walgreens.

"We're looking for mixed-use tenants, those that can support the housing project we already have on the ground," Caldwell tells GlobeSt.com. Negotiations are under way to sell land to users like a dry cleaners' owner, restaurateur and a "well-known quick-serve restaurant," he says. Locally based George E. Johnson Development Inc. is marketing the development.

Caldwell explains the mixed-use project, which has been under development for three years, came on line quickly for such a large undertaking thanks to a "highly charged development group." Future development calls for the Corinthian Village Independent Living Facility, YMCA and Zina Garrison Tennis Center. Ground-breaking dates have yet to be set.
