Approvals, Funding Ready for $68M Jazz District Complex

SAN FRANCISCO-Site work is expected to begin next week at the corner of Fillmore and Eddy in the Western Addition for a mixed-use development that will include a jazz club, a restaurant and a Jazz Heritage Center. The venue will be situated below 80 mixed-income condominium units in a 13-story tower.

SAN FRANCISCO-Em Johnson Interest Inc., a Bay Area urban real estate developer, says all approvals and funding are in place for a $68-million mixed-use complex at the corner of Fillmore and Eddy in the city’s historic jazz district in San Francisco’s Western Addition. The project will include a public parking garage topped by a commercial base topped by 80 mixed-income condominium units in a 13-story tower.

EM Johnson Interest Inc. is the manager of Fillmore Development Associates, the firm selected in June 2001 by the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency to develop the 1.2-acre site at the corner of Fillmore and Eddy in the Western Addition. EM Johnson president Michael E. Johnson, managing member of Fillmore Development Associates, tells GlobeSt.com that the grading, shoring and excavation contractor will begin site work next Monday. Project construction will take 18 months to complete, he says.
