The vacant warehouse is located at 9201 Grogan's Mill Rd. The plan calls for converting the 1980-constructed building into a youth center and supplemental worship facility. Michael Novelli, managing director of locally based Cypressbrook, tells GlobeSt.com that the church had raised a great deal of money through a capital campaign and "likely as not, some of that will be used to finance this project." He adds that renovation work is under way on the building. The construction completion and opening date were unavailable by publication time.
Cypressbrook bought the asset in July 2004 from Houston-based Allegiance Healthcare Corp. "When we purchased the facility, we discovered the church had recently acquired a small three-acre site making their facilities contiguous to our building," says Jon Belanger, development manager for Cypressbrook. It took some negotiating, but the deal was finally struck, he adds. The warehouse had been leased to a local distributor on a short-term basis.
According to local sources, the church's ultimate plan is to integrate it into its church's existing campus at 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. in the Woodlands. As for the three-acre adjacent property, Novelli says the church most likely will build on it in the future. "The plan is to use the land for parking and similar purposes," he says. "This is a significant venture for the organization. They worked long and hard to raise the funds for this and it will end up being good for both them and the community."
