DETROIT-Students attending Wayne State University's main campus this fall will be able to dine in some style, thanks to the anticipated opening of five eateries, to be located on or near the campus. These include Pizza Venti, Mrs. Field's Cookies, TCBY Frozen Desserts, Pretzel Time and La Pita Mediterranean Grill. The eateries are scheduled in the late fourth quarter, 2005.
These follow in the footsteps of Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches, which opened during mid-September, and adds to other on-campus food and drink shops such as Einstein Bros. Bagels, Starbucks and Subway Sandwiches, which opened on campus late last year.
According to Nabelah Ghareeb, assistant vice president, Office of Business Operations for Wayne State University, the growth of the area is responsible for sudden interest by retailers, both eateries and otherwise. For example, a Barnes & Noble satellite store is scheduled to open on campus during the first quarter of 2006.
"It shows that Wayne State has a good reputation in the business community and that Midtown is becoming more and more of an attraction," Ghareeb says.
