At the BNYDC since 2002, Deutsch managed the 300-acre, 3.5 million-sf industrial park for the city. He oversaw the creation of a strategic plan for the expansion of the Navy Yard as well as facilitated the development of Steiner Studios, a $100 million, 280,000-sf film and television studio. "Eric's knowledge and expertise in management, planning and economic development will benefit the Downtown Alliance and Lower Manhattan for many years to come," says Alan Fishman, president and CEO of Independence Community Bank and chairman of BNYDC.
Deutsch served as the senior vice president of the New York City Economic Development Corp., where he also held the title of executive director of the New York City Industrial Development Agency. He was also the executive director of the Group of 35, a team of business, real estate, academic and government leaders that was formed by US Sen. Charles Schumer in early 2000. Deutsch is tentatively scheduled to begin serving in his new position on Nov. 1. The Alliance is the city's largest BID.
