GlobeSt.com UPDATE: Deutsch Will Head Up Alliance for Downtown

NEW YORK CITY-The Alliance for Downtown New York has selected Eric J. Deutsch to serve as it new president. The current president and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. replaces Carl Weisbrod, who had served as Alliance president since 1995. In early May, Weisbrod said he would resign on July 1 to take the position of executive vice president of Trinity Church and president of Trinity Real Estate division.

At the BNYDC since 2002, Deutsch managed the 300-acre, 3.5 million-sf industrial park for the city. He oversaw the creation of a strategic plan for the expansion of the Navy Yard as well as facilitated the development of Steiner Studios, a $100 million, 280,000-sf film and television studio. “Eric’s knowledge and expertise in management, planning and economic development will benefit the Downtown Alliance and Lower Manhattan for many years to come,” says Alan Fishman, president and CEO of Independence Community Bank and chairman of BNYDC.
