The class A building is at 1650 Research Dr., at the corner of East Maple Road and Research Drive, near Stephenson Highway. According to Joe Trinkle, vice president and city manager with Liberty Property Trust's Detroit office, the tenant was looking for a location that was somewhat more stable than its former location on Big Beaver Road and I-75. "They also needed more space, and a more central location for students coming from all over the Detroit metro area," he tells GlobeSt.com.

The site, he continues, will be used for continuing education services and degreed programs for working students who attend evening and weekend classes. Some major renovations were required to the space before move-in.

Barbara Ethon with Equis Corp.'s Detroit office represented Central Michigan University in the transaction. Pennsylvania-based Liberty Trust, which owns and manages the building, was self-represented in the deal.
