Elvis Is Going To Strip

LAS VEGAS-Publicly held CKX Inc., owner of the name, image and likeness of Elvis Presley, is acquiring the assets of the Elvis-O-Rama museum on Industrial Road here en route to opening an Elvis-themed attraction on the Las Vegas Strip.

LAS VEGAS-The Elvis-O-Rama museum on Industrial Road here will disappear next year en route to an Elvis-themed attraction opening on the Strip. As part of the plan, the locally based publicly held owner of the Elvis’ name, image and likeness is acquiring the assets of the museum–including the name, the Web site and much of the memorabilia.

The seller, which includes collector Chris Davidson and partners, is receiving an undisclosed sum that includes the right to open an Elvis museum in Hawaii, though CKX would own a substantial interest in the property. Hawaii served as the location for three of Mr. Presley’s films and perhaps most famously, was home to the 1973 concert “Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii,” which was broadcast worldwide and ultimately viewed by more than 1.5 billion people around the world.
