Headquartered in Boise, ID, BMC West already has a 300,000-sf production facility in Houston, according to Jason Whittington, a principal with NAI Houston. "This new location will be more of a retail operation," says Whittington, who represented the local building owner, Warren E. Clark. BMC West was self-represented.

The building, located at 3428 Fondren Rd. on the city's west side, was taken as is, with no renovation necessary. "This had originally been the showroom headquarters for a company called the Metro Collection, which sold bathroom and kitchen fixtures," Whittington tells GlobeSt.com. The building's owner also owns Metro Collection.

Local reports peg quoted rates for industrial buildings in the $4 per sf range, on an annual basis. According to Whittington, BMC received a "strong rental rate and a building that's in great shape" with the transaction. "It won't change much," Whittington notes. "All they'll do is add the doors to the display."
