Language Center Opens in 130,000-SF Building

COLLEGE PARK, MD-With a $16 million renovation completed, the Center for Advanced Study of Language has opened in the 130,000-sf building at the University of Maryland’s 126-acre M-Square Research Center. A former manufacturing facility for Litton, the structure anchors M Square and was redeveloped by the public-private M Square development team, which includes the university as well as the Michaels Co., Manekin LLC and Corporate Office Properties Trust.

COPT took on the role of financier for the CASL building, which was designed by Grimm & Parker Architects, while Manekin handled construction. CASL, an entity established by the US Department of Defense, is leasing the space form the M Square team; however, the terms of the lease agreement, handled by the Michaels Co., have not been disclosed.
