HILLSBORO, OR-The Hillsboro Planning Commission on Wednesday night opted not to vote on a planned unit development by Kaiser Permanente for a multi-building project on its 15-acre property along Evergreen Parkway in the Tanasbourne area. The plan includes a 292-bed hospital, 450,000-sf of medical office space and two parking structures.

The vote on PUD is now expected to occur at a special meeting scheduled for Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. If approved by the Planning Commission, the development would then go before the City Council for final approval. A PUD allows for certain exceptions to development standard of an underlying zone; in this case Kaiser is seeking exceptions for maximum height and lot coverage.

The city’s Planning and Zoning Hearing Board approved the health system’s conditional-use application for the hospital last week; there was no opposition to the vote. Yesterday’s expected vote on the entire PUD was pushed back in part because earlier, more controversial items on the agenda took up so much time that the commission didn’t have time to do more than listen to the presentation and provide some brief feedback, a source in the city’s planning department tells GlobeSt.com.
