The Governor will speak at a hospitality event on Sunday afternoon hosted by the Portland Ambassadors, a private sector leadership group focused on economic development. Similar events hosted by Ohio and Missouri are in the same time slot.

In addition, the Governor will meet separately with a small group of corporate facilities experts at a private reception later than night, as well as a breakfast the next morning before returning to Salem. The Governor and 30 other delegates will use the events to lobby site selectors on the benefits of having a base of operations in the Portland metropolitan area.

One of the delegates is Dick Sheehy, site selection manager at IDC, a global industrial design and construction firm headquartered in Portland. "The governor's presence sends a very clear message to site selection decision-makers that we want business here, and we're prepared to go after it," he said in a prepared statement.

The Portland Ambassadors has hosted an Oregon event at CoreNet for the past 15 years. The group says that past events have attracted at least several hundred, and sometimes more than a thousand, attendees to an informal showcase of the region's business advantages.
