LAUREL, MD-Ground has broken at 11800 Laurel-Bowie Rd. for the new 30,000-sf Old Glory Harley-Davidson dealership. Manekin Construction is building the motorcycle retail and service facility on behalf of property owner Rick Hendrick and dealership owners Steve Scalia and Ryan Kelley.
Manekin was also behind the construction of Harley Davison of Maryland in Elkridge. The Laurel-Bowie Rd. project will cost an estimated $5 million to complete. The Old Glory Harley building is scheduled to reach completion next spring.
Old Gory Harley will sit on an approximately three-acre parcel just off Route 197 and the Baltimore Washington Parkway in Prince George's County. The developers took pains to find just the right location, spending two years to isolate a site that was large enough to accommodate parking and event space at a centralized location that is a reasonable distance from other dealers, according to Scalia. "Their decision to locate their new dealership in South Laurel brings new jobs to Prince George's County," says Aris Melissaratos, secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.
