Jury Finds Port Authority Negligent

NEW YORK CITY-A jury ruled yesterday that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, owner of the World Trade Center site, was negligent in the 1993 bombing in a parking garage. Six people were killed and nearly 1,000 were injured in the blast.

The jury found that negligence on the part of the Port Authority for not properly maintaining the garage was a substantial factor that lead to the attack. The jury found the authority 68% responsible for the attack, while holding the terrorists 32% responsible.

This case was a consolidation of 400 cases brought in the matter. Money damages will be determined in separate trials. The jury was not allowed to consider the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that destroyed the towers.
