In a statement, the TIA said the decision was based on "an extensive, continuing review of the toy industry's needs. The TIA board concluded that 100 Church St., whose selection had been tentatively announced, will not satisfy those needs."

The association has been searching for a new home since the sale of the current International Toy Center at 200 Fifth Ave. and 1107 Broadway. The tenant roster there includes Leapfrog Enterprises, VTech Industries and Rose Art. The toy industry expects to occupy more than 400,000 sf wherever it winds up.

The TIA board has committed to resolve the issue of finding a new home for the toy industry and a location for the 2006 American International Fall Toy Show by Dec. 15. Cushman and Wakefield, which handled the search process, issued no comment and referred calls to the TIA.
