GlobeSt.com UPDATE: Hotel-Condo Tower Wins Design Approval

SEATTLE-The approval clears the way for the developer, RC Hedreen Co., to receive its master use permit for the proposed 36-story Downtown condominium and hotel development.

SEATTLE-The City of Seattle’s Design Review Board has signed off on a 36-story Downtown condominium and hotel proposed by locally based developer RC Hedreen Co. Company president David Thyer says the approval clears the way for issuance of a master use permit for the project and keeps the development timeline intact. “This is a major milestone for us because it allows us to now focus on marketing, presales and construction,” he says. The plan is to break ground in early 2006 and complete the project in 2008.

The glass facade-covered concrete building is planned for the southwest corner of Olive Way and 8th Avenue, immediately east of the Downtown retail core. The lower 15 stories are slated to be a 350-room hotel and the upper 19 floors will house 198 for-sale residential units.

New York architect Richard Gluckman is the designer in collaboration with local firm MulvannyG2 Architecture. The general contractor is Skanska USA Building. Locally based Williams Marketing will open a sales office for the project this December.
