HAVRE DE GRACE, MD-A new 100,000-sf shopping center will help fill the retail gap along Route 40 in Harford County, about 40 miles outside of Baltimore. Richard Craig & Associates is developing the Harbor Shops and expects to spend between $7 million to $8 million to see the project through completion.

Harbor Shops will feature approximately 14 retailers that could include a grocery store, a bank branch and restaurants. KLNB Retail's Mark Mueller and Tom Maddux have been charged with handling the leasing of the property, the first phase of which is scheduled to debut next spring.

"Havre de Grace is currently an under-served retail market and, given the current velocity of new residential development, this area represents a tremendous opportunity for national, regional and local retailers to tap into," Mueller says. "We are targeting merchants that offer broad market appeal to consumers and are unique to the Harford County region. The demographics of the adjacent residential areas are expected to significantly increase, which will create a captive audience for the tenants of Harbor Shops."
