Coddingtown Mall is an 827,000-sf center anchored by JCPenney, Macy's, and Gottschalk's. It is located about 1.5 miles from Simon's Santa Rosa Plaza. Codding principal Brad Baker tells GlobeSt.com that occupancy is about 91%.

Simon chief executive David Simon says Simon can add value through the execution of "various redevelopment activities." Baker tells GlobeSt.com that the general plan is to expand the center.Baker says the amount of potential expansion space has not yet been determined, but will require the consolidation of existing surface parking into a multilevel garage. Depending on how much more space can be added, the goal could be to add a department store and additional national anchor tenants.

The Codding family has interests in two malls. The other is Merced Mall in Merced, CA, of which it also owns 50%. Simon owns or has an interest in 298 properties in the US and Puerto Rico containing an aggregate of 203 million sf of gross leasable area. Simon also owns interests in 51 European shopping centers in France, Italy, and Poland; 5 Premium Outlet(R) centers in Japan; and one Premium Outlet(R) center in Mexico.
