DALLAS-Joseph M. DePinto was named president and CEO of 7-Eleven, effective Dec. 1, replacing Jim Keyes, who retired from the company earlier this month. DePinto will oversee all strategic, operational and financial workings of the company, and will report to Toshifumi Suzuki, chairman and CEO of Seven-Eleven Japan Co.

DePinto, 43, is returning to 7-Eleven from GameStop Corp., where he has been president since March. Prior to that, he was 7-Eleven’s vice president of operations. DePinto has also held positions at Thornton Quick Cafe & Market and PepsiCo.

7-Eleven operates and licenses about 29,000 convenience stores worldwide; about 5,800 of them are in North America. At the beginning of this month, Tokyo-based Seven-Eleven Japan Co., a former licensee of the chain, acquired it for $1.2 billion and took it private.
