Egis Certified Lands Green Building Gig

SEATTLE-Formed to capitalize on developers' want to win environmental awards for their projects, the division of locally based Egis Real Estate Services lands a key assignment for Vulcan Inc., the property arm of billionaire Paul Allen.

SEATTLE-Work on Vulcan Inc.’s Alley 24 project here is going to Egis Certified, a fledgling division of locally based Egis Real Estate Services formed to focus on development projects seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the US Green Building Council.

Egis Certified provides LEED project management, documentation consulting and building commissioning. Its LEED 2.1 accredited professionals work alongside the development team in order to facilitate LEED certification. Egis Real Estate Services provides property management and engineering services.

The division’s first big assignment is Vulcan’s four-building Alley 24 project, which consists of two apartment buildings holding a combined 172 units and two office buildings holding 185,000 sf of office space and street-level retail. The “green” development will feature more natural daylight than traditional buildings, energy and water saving fixtures and environmentally sensitive building materials. The boundaries of the project are John and Thomas streets and Yale and Pontius avenues. The property address is 223 Yale.
