MOUNDS VIEW. MN-Site work is under way for an eventual 1.5-million-sf headquarters campus for Medtronic Inc.’s Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit, according to Minneapolis-based Opus Northwest LLC, the project’s design-build contractor. Vertical construction for the $65-million, 820,000-sf first phase will begin in spring 2006 and be complete in fall 2007.

Medtronic’s largest business unit, Cardiac Rhythm Management develops cardiac devices, such as pacemakers and implantable defibrillators. The first phase of its new headquarters will consist of two eight-story towers and an adjacent 4,000-space parking garage.

The buildings will be situated on an 85-acre site near Trunk Highway 10 and Interstate 35W. They will house up to 3,200 Minnesota CRM employees currently located at five locations across the Twin Cities.
