Ron Jon Plans $150M Mixed-Use Resort at Port Canaveral

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL-When it breaks ground in 2006, the 26-acre project on the Banana River is tentatively scheduled to have a 400-room hotel, 60,000 sf of retail, 20,000 sf of meeting and conference space and a 10-acre water park.

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL-Cocoa Beach-based Ron Jon Surf Shop expects to break ground on the area’s first mixed-use, resort-themed community in this ocean-front town in 2006, officials at the Canaveral Port District Board of Commissioners confirm for GlobeSt.com.

The unnamed complex is tentatively scheduled to have a 400-room hotel, 60,000-sf of retail, 20,000 sf of meeting and conference space and a 10-acre water park. The hotel brand hasn’t yet been determined. The project is expected to create 600 full-time jobs, according to the Space Coast Office of Tourism. The development site is 70 miles southeast of Downtown Orlando.
