Forest City, Harrah's Unite for Pittsburgh Casino License

PITTSBURGH-The duo files an application with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for a license to create and own a gaming facility here, one of 14 licenses the state will hand out.

PITTSBURGH-Publicly traded companies Forest City Enterprises and Harrah’s Entertainment jointly filed an application with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board this week for a license to create a gaming facility in Pittsburgh. The application provides that Forest City Enterprises, together with a group of prominent local business people, will own the gaming facility, while Harrah’s will develop and manage the casino.

Pennsylvania has authorized a total of 14 gaming licenses across the state, including seven for horseracing tracks, two for resort developments and five for stand-alone slot parlors. Wednesday was the deadline for submitting license applications. Trump, Boyd, Aztar, Forest City and Harrah’s are some of the companies vying for the licenses, according to published reports. A complete list of applicants is expected to be released next week.
