LAS VEGAS-Boyd Gaming Corp. is planning to replace its Stardust Casino here with a $4-billion development that would include 5,300 hotel rooms, a 140,000 sf casino and dozens of restaurants and bars. The plan is to shut down the Stardust at the end of the year, start the redevelopment in 2007 and complete in 2010.

The overall development would be called Echelon Place. Within in that would be the $2.9-billion Echelon Resort, which would be wholly owned by Boyd and include 3,300 of the 5,300 rooms in two high-rise towers, each with its own full-service spa, as well as the casino, two theaters (one with 4,000 seats and the other with 1,500 seats), 25 restaurants and bars and a pool area.
