NPS is a public company engaged in the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule drugs and recombinant proteins to treat bone and mineral disorders, osteoporosis, gastrointestinal disorders and central nervous system disorders. The acquisitions of these properties increase BioMed's real estate portfolio to 39 properties, representing 62 buildings with approximately 4.7 million rentable square feet in all of the major life science markets in the United States.

Also this month, BioMed made moves to increase its holdings in the Seattle and San Francisco-area life sciences markets. Concurrent with the Salt Lake City announcement, BioMed this week announced its acquisition of a distribution building in South San Francisco , a key life sciences hub, that it plans to tear down and replace with a class A office and lab building after the tenant's lease expires at the end of next year.

Earlier this month , BioMed announced plans for its third facility in the Seattle market. The company is planning to develop a 93,000-sf laboratory building in the South Lake Union area, another burgeoning life sciences hub, in partnership with Seattle-based EDG Commercial Real Estate. The five-story Fairview Research Center will be located at 530 Fairview Avenue, on the southeast corner of Fairview Avenue North and Mercer Street.
