The company says the 2006 expansion is its largest Michigan expansion to date. Anthony Glover, Bank One's Detroit-based regional manager for consumer banking, contends that Meijer, "a terrific Michigan business that has earned the loyalty of its customers," will prove to be a prosperous partnership.
"Our customers will now be able to get a lot accomplished in just one stop," he says. "And the Meijer locations will give Bank One opportunities to serve its current customers and reach out to new ones."
The first seven branches in Meijer stores opened during December in Ann Arbor, Greenville, Ionia, Rochester Hills, Westland, Woodhaven and Wyoming. The full-service in-store branches will offer several banking services and a 24-hour ATM.
Bank One's Michigan branches will re-brand to the Chase brand name in 2006, reflecting the merger between Bank One Corp. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Bank One and Chase operate 200 branches in supermarkets mostly in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas.
Meijer, a Michigan-based family owned and operated grocery and general merchandise supercenter retailer, operates 171 stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
