Founded in 1996, Gundaker Commercial Group began as part of the Gordon A. Gundaker Real Estate Co. The company operates four divisions: asset management, brokerage, construction and development.

Gundaker president/CEO Mike Hejna tells GlobeSt.com the G&E name will be associated with the brokerage division only. As part of the arrangement, when G&E corporate of a G&E affiliate has a deal in St Louis, it will go through Gundaker, and when Gundaker has a deal out of the St. Louis market, it will call first a G&E affiliate in that market, if there is one to call. "And whomever is doing most of the work will get most of the compensation," he says.

Grubb & Ellis also likely will benefit from Gundaker's recent acquisition of a company with 38 retail design-build-leaseback deals around the nation. For example, Hejna says it recently acquired through a G&E affiliate in Seattle and development parcel and, after developing and leasing it, will likely hand it back to the G&E affiliate to sell it off to an investor.

The new affiliation for Grubb & Ellis comes after its former St. Louis affiliate shifted its affiliation to Trammell Crow Co.
