He adds that, in addition to properties on Long Island, several of the corporate employees are Long Island residents. "It's an opportunity for everyone to work closer to where they live and work closer to the portfolio."
The permanent headquarters building will rise approximately 100 yards from Sterling Glen of Roslyn. The 157-unit luxury independent living community is slated to open this fall. It is being developed on a five-acre park along the waterfront. When the redevelopment of the waterfront is complete, both Sterling Glen of Roslyn residents and community members will have access to the park, Hunter adds.
All total, Sterling Glen Senior Living has 11 senior living properties throughout New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, with seven located on Long Island. Sterling Glen of Roslyn is the only one currently under construction. The latest property to open was Sterling Glen of Lynbrook, a 100-unit assisted living community on 2.2 acres adjacent to the Tanglewood Preserve.
