BROOKLYN, NY-More than 113,000 sf of new leases or renewals are inked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Twenty-six small businesses took space at the city's largest, single-landlord industrial park. Managed by the nonprofit Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp., the 300-acre site has approximately 3.5 million sf of space.

"The Brooklyn Navy Yard is one of the few locations in New York City that can provide small industrial businesses with ample space and opportunities to flourish," explains Andrew Kimball, BNYDC president. He adds that investments in the area promote job growth and business expansion. "Significantly, approximately half of the workers employed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard are residents of Brooklyn."

In some of the larger deals, Zomax renewed a 23,142-sf lease for the distribution of hardware and small tools and Brooks Services Inc. renewed a 10,300-sf lease for use as a refrigerated warehouse. GM Pinks Corp. expanded to 17,000 sf for the storage of furniture and cabinetry and Noori Liquidation Center Inc. signed a new, 11,120-sf lease for the storage and distribution of Oriental and Persian rugs.
