GLENDALE, NY-Atco Properties and Management Inc. has closed on $126-million construction loan for the Shops at Atlas Park here. The funds, which were supplied by Wells Fargo & Co., will be used to complete the 400,000-sf project, according to Atco president H. Dale Hemmerdinger.

Dubbed the city's first-ever lifestyle retail center, grand opening is scheduled for spring. For previous coverage on the project, click here.

Construction is being performed in phases from now through October with several buildings open to the public this spring, Hemmerdinger adds. Located at 8000 Cooper Ave., at the intersection of 80th Street, the tenant roster includes Regal Cinemas, Borders and Chili's, national retailers include Chico's, White House Black Market, Gymboree, Coldwater Creek, Bombay Co., Aerosoles, Jos. A. Bank, Claire's, Johnny Rockets, Cold Stone Creamery, California Pizza Kitchen, Shiro's of Japan, Pasticcio and fashion boutique Stella Gialla. In fact, more than 70% of the retail and restaurant space has already been rented or committed to. New York Sports Clubs recently inked a deal for 27,406 sf. The fitness club operator committed to a long-term lease with three five-year options. A company spokesperson tells GlobeSt.com that more tenants are expected to line up as the grand opening nears.
