Opus East LLC is developing the 268,800-sf building on behalf of the US General Services Administration, which will lease the facility from the developer under an initial lease not to exceed 13 years. The project will cost an estimated $60 to $65 million to complete.
NOAA's new office and laboratory facility will occupy a 10-acre parcel within the park and will adhere to the federal government's secure property requirements. The architectural firm of Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. is the designer of the three-story, LEED-certified complex that will also feature mission critical space, an auditorium, dining area, fitness center, auditorium and a 700-vehicle parking facility. The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2007.
