UPDATE: Ritz-Carlton Replaces Embassy Suites Banner

DENVER-Officials with Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC on Wednesday confirm that the luxury nameplate will replace Embassy Suites' at the Denver Place Tower Plaza. The new Ritz-Carlton, which will be on the first 14 floors of the building, will open in the spring of 2007.

DENVER-Execs from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. LLC, on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that the first Ritz will open during the spring of 2007 in the Denver Place Tower Plaza at 1881 Curtis St. The 19-story building, near the 16th Street Mall and Coors Field, will offer 202 rooms and suites, plus 23 units at the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton Denver.

“We are delighted to be adding a third property in Colorado on the heels of our successful ventures in Bachelor Gulch in Beaver Creek and Aspen Highlands,” says Simon Cooper, president and COO of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.

Ritz-Carlton will not have an equity stake in the hotel. Rather, it is owned by a partnership led by Charlie Biederman, Steve Roitman and Jim Cobb. “The Ritz-Carlton Denver will achieve a level of luxury that has not been seen before in Denver,” Biederman says. “The hotel will put Denver on the map as a first-tier destination for business and leisure travelers.” Biederman also is an owner of the JW Marriott Denver in Cherry Creek. The Ritz-Carlton team includes Pahl-Pahl-Pahl PC, a locally based architecture firm; Texeira Interior Architecture & Design, based in Los Angeles; and the Denver office of M.A. Mortenson Co.
