The building carries a development price tag of $4.2 million. Upon completion it will have the address of 5522 Research Park Dr. Water Science Center employees will relocate from their current locale in White Marsh.
The building will be the third structure to be developed at the research park; the first two, developed in 2001 and 2004 and totaling 123,000 sf, are fully occupied and sold last year for the sum of $22.5 million. "The entire UMBC community is buying into the value of the park, which makes us much more attractive to the market," UMBC Research Park Corp. executive director Ellen Hemmerly says.
