SAN DIEGO-McMillin Commercial is developing a 52,109-sf Spanish-style retail plaza in San Miguel Ranch. The project, to be named the Shops at San Miguel Ranch, is scheduled for completion in the fall. Financial terms were not disclosed.Benson & Bohl Architects designed the retail center, which will consist of six wood-framed buildings, a 45-foot tower and a colonnade. So far, no tenants have been confirmed for the project.Lyon Warren's Glen Mouritzen, structural engineer for the project, tells Globest.com that at this stage of construction it is unclear how many units or tenants the development will hold.The Shops at Miguel Ranch is just one of many projects under way by Lyons Warren in the metro area. Other recent groundbreakings include the 84,200-sf retail project named Vail Ranch Towne Square located at 32675 Highway 79 South in Temecula.A 14,634-sf office project also reached completion earlier this month. Lyons Warren provided structural engineering services for $1.8-million project located in Carlsbad.According to a report issued by Marcus & Millichap, San Diego saw a sharp decrease in new construction in 2005, with most projects consisting of residential units over ground floor retail.
