PLYMOUTH, MI-A popular regional meeting venue has expanded with the addition of a seven-story, 118-room hotel, a 70-seat restaurant and 7,000 sf of new conference space. The venue, which was formerly known as St. John's Golf & Conference Center, is now known as the Inn at St. John's. While the hotel and restaurant opened to accommodate Super Bowl XL attendants, an official grand opening ceremony will be held on Friday.

Chuck Skelton, president of Ann Arbor-based Hospitality Advisors, tells GlobeSt.com that an old seminary was redeveloped and converted into the hotel. Located in a high-growth suburb of Detroit, the owners are hoping to capitalize on meeting business. "The product is unique in the marketplace. They've added rooms and made it into an urban sanctuary."

The inn is located on 192 acres at 44045 Five Mile Rd. and prior to the expansion, consisted of 35,000 sf of conference space and a 72-par golf course. In addition to meeting areas, the inn has four ballrooms, the largest of which can accommodate seating for 450 guests. It is owned by a group of private investors and operated by Troy-based Hotel Investment Services. It is used for conferences, banquets, training sessions and other events.
