Muvico Theaters Plans Growth

BOCA RATON, FL-The chain plans to add more than 120 screens over the next five years and has promoted a handful of executives.

BOCA RATON, FL-Cinema chain Muvico Theaters plans to increase its number of screens from its current 233 to 353 during the next five years as it opens units in new markets. As it grows, the company has also promoted a number of executives into new posts.

Long-time investor and board member Joseph Amaturo was named chairman of the chain. Michael Whalen, formerly chief financial officer, was promoted to president. Additionally, four high-level, vice-president positions were filled through company promotions.

Though Muvico only has 12 theaters, the chain has caught the attention of some of the country’s largest retail developers. Future theaters are planned at two Simon Property Group projects and one Forest City Enterprises development.
