COLORADO SPRINGS-California-based dpiX LLC, a supplier of sensors for digital X-ray imaging, recently bought a 239,200-sf manufacturing facility here. The company's purchase of the former LSI Logic facility is believed to be the largest industrial deal so far this year. The sales price was not disclosed.

John Manning, president and CEO of Palo Alto-based dpiX, says the facility fits the company's needs. "This investment will allow dpiX to continue to meet the future needs of our customers," Manning says. "We have looked throughout the US and Asia for the best possible expansion site for our unique technology and we have found it in Colorado Springs."

The deal will create 125 new jobs, including for high-paying engineers. "We are proud dpiX, LLC has selected Colorado Springs for its new facility," says Mike Kazmierski, president of the Colorado Springs EDC. "This is exactly the type of company we are seeking to expand our existing high-tech base."

The transaction was handled Eric Dienstbach of Binswanger's Colorado office. Binswanger is a full-service real estate consulting firm based in Philadelphia. The facility, located at 1635 Aeroplaza Dr., is a fully air conditioned facility that includes 30,000 sf of office space. Eighteen of the 39-acre site can be used for expansion, according to Dienstbach.
