The REIT plans to market the space in the $22-million facility to both large and small technology businesses. The new four-story office structure will sit at 5520 Research Dr.
News of its impending development comes on the heels of the March announcement that the company will build the 23,400-sf, $4.2-million home for the US Geological Survey's Maryland-Delaware-District of Columbia Water Science Center, which will sit adjacent to the new office building. The research park's first two structures, which were developed in 2001 and 2004 at about 60,000 sf each, are both fully leased. bwtech@UMBC can ultimately accommodate as much as 330,000 sf of office and lab space development.
