BOCA RATON, FL-In what is proving to be a busy year for Woolbright Development, the real estate investment firm has named Robert Powell senior development director. The move comes just months after Woolbright aired plans for its first ground-up development, Collection at Vanderbilt, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.

Powell joins the retail company from the Powell Co., an advisory, development and brokerage firm in Atlanta where he served as president. The 138-acre, mixed-use Atlantic Station was one of several retail projects he helped spearhead, according to Woolbright. Powell also has first-hand knowledge of the Florida retail market; early in his career Powell was Southeast Florida regional manager with Faison & Associates, a Charlotte-based development, leasing and management firm. There he was responsible for opening the company's Southeast Florida regional office and helped redevelop and reposition Colonial Palms Plaza in Miami.

"Robert's extensive experience and knowledge of the retail real estate market in Florida will play a large role in the continued success of our team," says Erick Collazo, director of development. "He joins Woolbright at a time with we're working on ground-up development projects and adding high-quality properties to our portfolio through strategic acquisitions."

Collazo joined Woolbright in April as part of the company's expansion through Florida, as GlobeSt.com previously reported. Prior to the move, Collazo was a long-time Mills Corp. executive, most recently serving as group vice president of the domestic Southern region where he was responsible for the redevelopment of 14 Mills properties.

All these moves on the development front come within months of Woolbright's announcement it will build Collection at Vanderbilt in Naples, its first ground-up development. The 253,000-sf shopping center is rising on a 30-acre parcel which the company acquired for $1 million an acre from David Hocker & Associates of Owensboro, KY.
