Corcoran, who is based here, will also focus on growing the practice globally, and integrating global client management and business development efforts. He envisions this effort taking two to three years to come together with technology acting as a bridge. "We've been working on an appraisal builder tool that will bring technology to our global affiliates."

Achieving a global uniform approach to the valuation practice will also be a focus. Efforts are under way to establish with standardizing such issues as tax differences. "We need to get a standardized approach, the whole industry. We want to be in lockstep with that."

Prior to taking on this position, Corcoran was head of valuation services for the US. He became national director of the appraisal division in 1987 and was elected to the board of directors and the executive committee in 1991. He serves as chairman of the facilities review committee. He is a member of the Appraisal Institute, the Counselors of Real Estate, the Pension Real Estate Association and the Real Estate Board of New York and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

"Brian's experience, professionalism and inherent knowledge of the industry have been evident throughout his career at Cushman & Wakefield," says Christopher Lowery, CEO global capital markets and principal activities. "His history of servicing clients will enable him to lead the valuation group in its continued global development and achievements."
