SAN JOSE, CA-EBay is preparing for an expansion of its North First Street campus. The online auctioneer has filed documents with the City of San Jose to build an approximately 200,000-sf addition to the 538,000-sf campus.

EBay acquired the 47-acre property from Novell Networks three years ago for about $100 million. As part of the deal, the company acquired an adjacent 15.75-acre parcel from the city (which acquired it from Novell) along with rights to expand the campus by about 1.5 million sf. Prior to the transactions, eBay reportedly had been considering moving its headquarters outside the city. Neither eBay spokesman Hani Durzy nor Nancy Klein with the City of San Jose could be reached Monday for comment.
