It has applied for a Pennsylvania gaming license. Robert Nutting, CEO of Ogden Newspapers, says in a statement, "the possibility of limited gaming did not play a major role in our decision to purchase the resort," but he says he would continue to pursue the license. "We have been admirers of the Dupre family and Seven Springs for many years. Their insistence that Seven Springs be a family-first resort will not change under my family's ownership." Without elaboration, he said his family would invest in new amenities.

Scott Bender, Seven Springs' president and CEO, also says the focus of the resort would not change. He says the Nutting family's "cultural fit and dedication to quality was essential in our decision-making process." Herman Dupre, the former 40-year CEO, says in a statement that the new owner would carry on his family's legacy. Calls to Bender and Nutting were not returned by deadline.

Wheeling, WV-based Ogden Newspapers publishes approximately 39 newspapers, including 21 dailies and 20 phone books that reach more than a million households within a four-hour drive of Seven Springs.
