Denis Dowdle, president and manager of Madison Seaport Holdings LLC, which plans to build the extended stay and limited-service assets, tells GlobeSt.com that the venture would provide lower priced hotel rooms for convention visitors and tourists who don't need the amenities higher cost hotels offer.

The hotels, which will feature 502 rooms, will have a ground-floor lobby and 8,414 sf of retail along with 150 parking spaces on the second through fifth floors and will include a pool, spa and sundeck.

The project is currently under review by the Boston Redevelopment Authority and the state's Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. Dowdle says the developer is currently talking to hotel operators about franchising the hotel or operating it as a joint venture.
