NEW YORK CITY-Insurer MetLife is leasing 600,000 sf at 1095 Ave. of the Americas, industry sources have confirmed to GlobeSt.com. The building, also known as the Verizon Building, is 80% (1.03 million sf) owned by Equity Office Properties Trust of Chicago, which purchased the property for $505 million in October.

EOP owns more than 590 buildings and 105 million sf of space nationwide. At 1095, Verizon owns about 20%, or 200,000 sf of the building.

According to online data, each floor of the 41-story building, located on the corner of 42nd Street, contains about 34,000 sf. Therefore, MetLife could occupy nearly 20 floors of the building.
