MILWAUKEE-Four upscale restaurants, Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy, Claim Jumper Restaurant, Flemings Steakhouse and Wine Bar and Mitchell's Fish Market, along with specialty grocer, the Fresh Market, will be calling Brookfield Square home. The 1.1-million-sf regional mall, anchored by Barnes & Noble, Boston Store, J.C. Penney and Sears, is owned by Chattanooga, TN-based CBL & Associates Properties Inc.

Site work is under way with openings scheduled for the spring, summer and fall of 2007. Specifically, a 7,500-sf Mitchell's Fish Market next to the mall's main entrance will be complete by the spring; and a 7,326-sf Flemings Steakhouse and Wine Bar will be located on the corner of Bluemound and Moorland roads and is also slated for a spring opening.

In the summer, the 22,400-sf Fresh Market's store at the intersection of Bluemound Road and Main Street is expected for delivery; and Abuelo's peripheral pad along Bluemound Road will house an 8,130-sf restaurant. In the fall, a 12,000-sf Claim Jumper will be next to the mall's main entrance and will open.

In 2005, CBL redeveloped approximately 44,000 sf for the addition of Barnes & Noble and Bravo! located on the mall's east side. Several new retailers have also opened at Brookfield Square, including Wisconsin's first H&M store. CBL will also develop 20,000 sf of peripheral space next to Flemings to be used for freestanding businesses. The mall is located at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Moorland Road.

Three of the restaurants, Claim Jumper, Flemings and Mitchell's Fish Market are new to CBL's portfolio of properties. "These additions are part of CBL's ongoing redevelopment and expansion plans for Brookfield Square," says Stephen Lebovitz, president of CBL. "Brookfield Square is an ideal example of what we are doing at a number of our malls, which includes adding restaurant and entertainment options to enhance the shopper's overall experience."
