SEATTLE-Cushman & Wakefield of Washington Inc. has found a new leader for its Apartment Brokerage Services Group. The national firm lured Pete Shelton away from locally based GVA Kidder Mathews, where he was a senior vice president.

At C&W, Shelton will specialize in providing real estate counsel and expertise to institutions, high-net worth individuals and private capital groups in the purchase and sale of multifamily investment properties. His clients have included BRE Properties Inc., Trammell Crow Residential, Simpson Housing, Metzler, Benaroya Capital, Equity Residential Properties Trust, Morgan Stanley and the Hanover Co.

Earlier this year, Shelton was recognized as the No. 2 broker at Kidder Mathews, which has five regional offices. In 2001, he received GVA's Rookie of the Year award for the largest sales volume of any new broker. Prior to GVA, Shelton served as an operations manager overseeing the real estate investment holdings for a high net worth local businessman in the Puget Sound region.

Shelton brought with him Kim Grant, who will start out as an associate. At GVA, she provided underwriting and market research services for multifamily investments properties in both Seattle and Bellevue. Prior to GVA, she served as an operations manager for various apartment communities with Pinnacle Realty in Seattle.

Shelton replaces Greg Laycock, who left in December to be the Northwest acquisitions executive for Fairfield Residential, a major apartment owner and developer based out of San Diego. Laycock told GlobeSt.com at the time of his departure that part of the attraction was the ability to have a stake in some of the development projects.
