CHARLOTTE, NC-Crosland has wrapped up the $7-million renovation of Town Center Plaza. The work, which began in March, added 15,000 sf of retail specialty shops and gave Harris Teeter a new 50,000-sf expanded space.
Locally based Crosland developed the retail property at Highway 49 and WT Harris Boulevard in 1984, and has been the site's only owner. With the renovation, the property near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte increased from approximately 132,000 sf to 147,569 sf, according to a Crosland spokeswoman. The renovation was a direct response to the needs of the market and the Harris Teeter renovation, she adds.
Lifestyle Family Fitness plans to occupy the former 35,744-sf Harris Teeter space, with an eye toward an early 2007 opening. The St. Petersburg, FL-based company joins the center's other anchor tenants: Eckerd, O'Charley's and Harris Teeter.
Also adding their names to the tenant roster are Great Clips (1,229 sf) and Beverly Nail Spa (1,302 sf). Jackson's Java & Cold Mountain Creamery will expand its space to 2,600 sf, Crosland says in a statement. All three stores are expected to open later this year. The Crosland declined to reveal the rental rates for the property.
The $7-million renovation also included updates to landscaping and lighting, and outdoor seating and dining.
