RALEIGH, NC-The 477,968-sf Poyner Place is welcoming six new tenants with the signing of new leases at the mixed-use development. The deals, which bring the center to 85% occupied, include the first North Carolina location for Tumbleweed Southwest Grill.
In addition to the Tex-Mex eatery, the new tenants are Yakety Yak Wireless, Danny Newton State Farm Insurance, Salon Se Swa, Cingular Wireless and Aquacade. State Farm Insurance is taking 1,241 sf, Salon Se Swa is taking 2,625 sf, Cingular Wireless is taking 3,373 sf and Aquacade is taking 1,564 sf, according to Crosland Inc. Tumbleweed Southwest Grill will open on an outparcel and Yakety Yak Wireless numbers were not released.
"The addition of these specialty shops and services will enhance the variety and convenience already offered by Poyner Place," says Susan McGuire, senior vice president of Crosland's retail division, in a statement. "We are particularly pleased to have national retailers and restaurants such as Tumbleweed Southwest Grill choose Poyner Place for their entry into North Carolina." Tumbleweed Southwest Grill expects to open the location in spring 2008.
Located on a 102-acre parcel across the Triangle Town Center, Poyner Place is anchored by a 174,675-sf SuperTarget. Junior anchors include Linen 'N Things, Office Max, Old Navy, World Market, Pier 1 and Ross. A later phase of an adjacent 46 acres will include additional retail, apartments and office space, according to Crosland.
Demographic figures for the area put the 2005 population at 5,449 within one mile and 60,955 within three miles of the development. The average 2005 household income was $61,370 within one mile and $62,469 within three miles, according to Crosland.
Poyner Place opened in 2003, and is a joint venture development between Crosland and Capital Land Investment Co., a subsidiary owned and managed by the Poyner family of Raleigh. Rreef owns the development.
